Papers of Colonel Carl Penner, commanding officer of the 120th Field Artillery Regiment, concerning the regiment's service in France, 1918-1919, and the post-war Regimental Association formed by its members. Field orders, memoranda, information reports, and bulletins comprise the bulk of the papers. Also included are several diaries kept by members of the regiment, minutes and a financial statement of the Association, two recorded interviews on three cassettes, a recorded 1966 interview with Penner and Richardson Browne concerning unit activities during World War I, and a 1964 recorded and transcribed interview with Penner and Frederic Sammond concerning service with Troop A, 1st Regiment, Wisconsin Cavalry National Guard prior to and during the 1916 Mexican border dispute.
